Flu vaccine

Influenze vaccine contains antigens from 2 or 3 of the currently circulating types of flu virus.

Vaccination is recommended for elderly people particularly those with heart, lungs or kidney disease. Flu vaccination has to be repeated before each winter because of the possible changes in virus types.

 

Meningococcal vaccine

This vaccine is recommended for both adults and children to shield them from meningococcal meningitis.A single dose of vaccine provides good protection against infection caused by meningococcal (a type of bacteria). Regular revaccinations are requried for long-trem protection.

 

Pneumococcal vaccine

This vaccine is recommended for those who are at risk of pneumococcal (a type of bacteria) pneumonia. A single dose of vaccine gives protection agians infections caused by this bacteria. Revaccination is required at a later date.

 

Rabies vaccine

Commonly known as treatment for dog bite. Rabies vaccine gives protection against the disease. Rabies is usually caused by the bite of a mad dog, monkey, cat, etc. and can lead to a feeling of fear of water and death. A series of 5 injections needs to be given.
